Anza National Historic Trail
Of the 1200 miles of Anza Trail in the United States, 250 miles of trail have been built and certified as of January, 2008, 18 of those miles are in Santa Cruz County.

With the elevation at 4,000 feet the best months for birding are March through September. Late April and May, and late August and September, offer the greatest diversity of species, including migrants and spring/summer residents. Winter is the season for sparrows and occasional southern vagrants such as the rufous-backed robin.

Coronado National Forest Hikes
Hikers explore the desert lowlands during the winter, then come back in summer to wander through cool high-elevation Ponderosa pine forest during the summer months.
